 The small cattle at Golden Coast Farm

are descendants of a cow and calf my grandfather gave me in 1953. He called them "Guineas", and they are apparently an offshoot of the Florida Cracker cows that grazed the open piney woods of the South for centuries. These short-legged cattle are hardy and gentle, and about twenty years ago, we began using registered Hereford bulls with our overall herd. Gradually the calves off our Guinea cows began to resemble the breed now called Miniature Herefords. The mature bulls are approximately 44" at the hip, and mature cows average about two inches shorter.
